Citicommunities and Jack Nicklaus launch The Bear’s Den Club with groundbreaking and owners event

New cutting-edge Jack Nicklaus community officially becomes the final element of Orlando’s Reunion Resort

Executives from Citicommunities — a diversified, vertically integrated, real estate investment and development firm — joined golf legend and course designer Jack Nicklaus on Saturday, December 10, for a celebratory groundbreaking to mark the launch of The Bear’s Den Club, a new luxury vacation-rental community inspired by Nicklaus and the first of its kind. When it opens in 2017, The Bear’s Den Club — the final element of Reunion Resort — will be a gated enclave with vacation homes surrounding the 17th and 18th holes of the Jack Nicklaus-designed Tradition Course at Reunion. The event gave owners an opportunity to celebrate the Club’s progress and meet Nicklaus personally.

“After nearly two years of discussion and planning, it’s truly incredible to see this dream of ours become a reality,” said Jim Bagley, owner, Citicommunities LLC. “We couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate than to break ground with the Golden Bear himself and give our newest Bear’s Den Club owners an opportunity to spend some quality time with the greatest golfer that’s ever lived, an American icon, and one of today’s most acclaimed designers.”

Following the groundbreaking and joined by members of his team and family, Nicklaus participated in a Q&A with Bagley and new owners of homes in The Bear’s Den Club. Nicklaus commented on The Bear’s Den Club project, but also discussed moments of his Hall of Fame career.

Nicklaus and his wife, Barbara, have had significant influence on the community’s design — one of almost 300 courses Nicklaus has designed around the world.

“We’ve never done this before and that’s pretty exciting,” Nicklaus said. “We’ve completed branded communities, but this is the first time we’ve assisted with a project where the 17th and 18th holes are entirely surrounded by rental properties. This is an area in the United States where I believe a project like this has a real advantage. There are a lot of places where seasonal rentals are popular, but I believe that Orlando has the kind of attractions that draw vacation renters year-round.”

The Bear’s Den Club owners and those who rent vacation homes within the community, once open, will have access to Reunion’s restaurants, three golf courses, driving ranges, pools, tennis pavilions, waterparks, fitness center and biking and hiking trails. A private Bear’s Den Clubhouse will serve up the ultimate Nicklaus experience, with memorabilia commemorating his illustrious career.

Lot reservations are now available. For more information, please visit www.BearsDenClub.com or call 888-284-3336.
