Newly redesigned course at The Country Club of Louisiana now open for its members

After several months of extensive construction and renovations, The Country Club of Louisiana (CCLA) has opened its newly redesigned golf course to members. A key Baton Rouge fixture since 1986, CCLA is among the first Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Courses in a residential setting. As part of the renovation work, CCLA replaced its Champion greens with MiniVerde bermudagrass to provide a truer putting surface. MiniVerde was introduced in the industry around 2002 and many have found it to not only be a superior surface but also one requiring less maintenance. MiniVerde has been recommended often by Nicklaus Design for its golf courses in the southeast.

"Due to our reputation and high standards, it was very important to CCLA that the redesign remained as close to Jack Nicklaus’ original vision as possible," said Nina S. Wager, director of membership and marketing at CCLA. To ensure that the club met the necessary standards and design integrity of the original Signature Course layout, The Country Club of Louisiana hired Louisiana native Mark Meijer, who spent a number of years as a design associate for Nicklaus Design. In addition to the course renovations, the original 7,000-square-foot practice green has been completely upgraded and expanded by 3,000 square feet. CCLA members can also take advantage of a practice bunker and chipping area adjacent to a meticulously cared for 300-yard driving range, with over 80,000 square feet of tee surface. The bunkers have also been overhauled, now featuring new bunker fabric for consistency.

In 2009, CCLA built a premier golf instruction facility named The Swing Center. This 1,200-square-foot, state-of-the-art facility is complete with two swing bays and is fully equipped with only the finest golf technology and equipment to enhance the member’s golf game and experience.

The Country Club of Louisiana is private, member-owned club that does not require its members to make tee times. Visit www.ccofla.com for more information about The Country Club of Louisiana’s newly renovated course.
