Success with access: Nicklaus scores in Golfweek’s Best Tour Courses You Can Play and top Municipals

Jack Nicklaus and Nicklaus Design have a global reputation for designing golf courses that are as strong on strategy as they are aesthetics. Because of that, no fewer than 90 have hosted a professional tournament worldwide. So it’s no surprise that in Golfweek’s annual listing of the Best Tour Courses You Can Play, Nicklaus Design made its mark with five.

Cap Cana (Punta Espada) in the Dominican Republic led the list for Nicklaus courses at No. 7; Harbour Town in Hilton Head Island, S.C. came in at No. 10; Ritz-Carlton Golf Club at Dove Mountain (Saguaro/Tortolita) in Marana, Ariz., ranked No. 22; PGA National (Champion) in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., came in at No. 28; Four Seasons Hualalai in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii, rounded out the list at No. 33.

In Golfweek’s ranking of the Best Municipal Courses in America, the only two municipal courses in the Nicklaus Design portfolio made the list: Breckenridge in Colorado at No. 35, and North Palm Beach Country Club, which Jack Nicklaus redesigned, debuted at No. 38.
