Applecross Country Club, the Philadelphia area’s first Nicklaus Design golf course, opened July 1 to rave reviews after a ribbon-cutting ceremony. Located less than 40 minutes from Philadelphia in Downingtown, Applecross is a residential golf community featuring a broad array of first-class club amenities, including a Nicklaus Design golf course on which Michael Nicklaus served as lead designer.
The 18-hole championship golf course at Applecross weaves through the Chester County countryside providing a unique-to-the-area experience for golfers. Wetlands and water features grace the surroundings of 14 of the holes.
“Michael Nicklaus designed a course that all can enjoy,” said Applecross resident Dan Massicotte. “Beautiful views, variety of shots, challenge and playability will make Applecross the talk of the golf community. The golf experience appeals to both low- and high- handicap players, men and women.
Added Applecross resident Patricia Vandenberg: “My husband is a PGA Member and avid golfer so we have played many, many courses around the country. Applecross has surpassed our expectations.”
Adding to the Nicklaus Design excitement is a unique Multi-Club Membership opportunity, as Applecross joins the Talamore Family of Clubs, providing its Members four outstanding Clubs under one membership Umbrella.
“Applecross is a wonderful addition—new, fun, beautiful and challenging—and I can now say I am a member at two great golf courses,” said Chuck Kraatz, Talamore Family of Clubs member.
Just 45 minutes apart, Applecross and Talamore offer two incredible and unrivaled Club and golf experiences in the Philadelphia area, as well as having access to the 36-hole Talamore Golf Resort in Pinehurst, NC.
Members also bask in the brilliance of The Grove at Applecross. Opened in 2009, this all-season Recreation Center features an Olympic-size outdoor swimming pool, an indoor pool, a kid’s “splash zone,” a Jacuzzi and tennis courts. There is also a 10,000-square-foot Sports Pavilion outfitted with state-of-the-art cardio and weight-training equipment, along with areas for personal training and specialized exercise, and wellness classes such as yoga, Pilates and aerobics.
Applecross Country Club is open for membership. Through its Member Fore a Day program, the club will feature limited daily tee times through the summer for non-members to enjoy a test drive of the new course.
